Tremendous Energy Savings

The TI-SmartBar is the most powerful LED horticultural (light-emitting diode) system on the market. At the cutting edge of LED lighting, the system will save you up to 65% on power costs compared to traditional systems. For example, a TI-SmartBar kit has an output equivalent to a 1000W* high pressure sodium (HPS) with a consumption of only 350W*.

The TI-SmartBar saves a tremendous amount of electricity by concentrating its light spectrum only in those light spectrums required by the plant (see “the Revolution” section for more details). Developed by agronomists, our exclusive TI-ProBloom spectral recipe produces unequalled results in all phases, from growth to flowering.  

*1000W and 350W are the consumption of the light sources, excluding the ballast.

Minimal Heat Production

High intensity discharge (HID) lights lose a high percentage of their energy in heat. Because they consume a lot of energy, it is necessary to ventilate the grow area or even air-condition it. LED lights also lose a percentage of their consumed energy in heat, but because they consume much less energy, much less heat is emitted in the grow area. Consequently management of ambient grow room temperature is much easier.

Heat Recovery

To maintain LEDs at an appropriate temperature for their proper functioning, it is necessary to cool TI-SmartBars using the water-cooling system. For installation of multiple kits, it is possible to use a centralized cooling system, which has only one pump and one water tank. Example.

Heated by the lamps, the water circulating in the system may be used for other purposes. For example, the heated water could be conveyed to crop-heating tubes. Localised crop heating has a better equilibrium radiation /convection than a pipe rail or air heating system. In professional greenhouses crop heating system savings can be significant.

Flexibility

3 different kits are available for The TI-Smartbar : S2B (2 bars), S4B (4 bars) and S5B (5 bars). The total luminous power of each kit is the same, but the luminous power of one bar varies depending of each kit. In this way, it is possible to concentrate more or less luminous power depending on individual crop needs.

Separating the total luminous power across several bars maximizes light diffusion in order to maximize canopy penetration.


Higher return per square foot

Due to their technical differences, LEDs emit less heat than HID lamps. In comparison, the maximum surface temperature of an HPS lamp is 842oF while it is 140oF for the TI-SmartBar. As a result, it is possible to place our lights closer to plants and grow on multiple vertical growing levels, increasing yield per square foot of grow room space.


Longer Lasting

LEDs are technologically completely different from HID lamps. In HID lamps,  light is generated by sending an electrical discharge through an ionized gas. LEDs are illuminated solely by the movement of electrons in a semiconductor material. Semiconductors are significantly more durable. As a result, TI-SmartBar LEDs have an estimated life span of over 50,000 hours, which is at least 5 times longer than HID lamps. The time and the cost of ongoing maintenance are thus significantly reduced.
